A comedy club in Playa del Carmen, in two languages
Playa del Carmen had no comedy club. Visitors asking their hotel where to see stand-up were sent to a karaoke bar, and people who live here had the same problem in Spanish. So we opened one.
We are on Calle 6 Norte in the centre of town: an 80-seat room with a stage, a green curtain and a bar. Shows run in English and in Spanish, and there is a free open mic every Tuesday in Spanish and every Wednesday in English, where anyone can sign up at the door and do five minutes.
Who is on
Comedians who live on this coast, and comedians passing through it. Plenty of touring acts are in Cancún or Tulum anyway, and a room that fills on a Wednesday is worth the extra day. If that is you, tell us when you are around.
The rest of the coast
We also put on shows in Cancún, Cozumel, Tulum, Puerto Morelos, Puerto Aventuras and Mérida, and we programme comedy for hotels and resorts along the Riviera Maya. Same idea: real stand-up, in the language the room actually speaks, starting at the time on the ticket.
